ATTENTION EVERYONE!
Remember how I'm taking Math 1010 for the 4th time this semester?
(Seriously though. First time I got a D+, second time I withdrew due to viral meningitis, third time I flat out failed, and now here I am. Time number four. Funny fact: financial aid stops paying for class after you take it three times. I was kind of pissed when I had to give back some of my refund.)
I hate math. I hate math with every bone in my body, every passion of my being. Why the hell do I need to know how to determine the slope of a line when I'm a Comm. major? Besides that, I have horrible testing anxiety and I get so stressed over homework assignments. Math 1010 was the only thing holding me back from graduating in May, because without Math 1010 I couldn't take the required Math 1030. I begged and pleaded to be placed in Math 1030, but my request to the math department chair and dean fell on deaf ears. The department chair said to me (and I quote), "I have no faith that you can pass Math 1030, let alone Math 1010. But against my better judgement, I'm signing you into 1010. If you fail, which you have a high chance of doing, it'll be at your own risk." That jackass made me so mad because I knew that no matter how hard it was going to be, I could pass 1010. I have to pass 1010 in order to graduate. There's no other way around it. I have a sister-in-law who's working on her math education degree, I have a husband who is good at math, and I picked a professor who I knew would be a good one.
WELL GUESS WHAT, DEPARTMENT CHAIR ARMSTRONG?!
I GOT 90 out of 100 ON MY MATH TEST.
I EVEN BEAT MY HUSBAND'S SCORE!
AND, ON MY LAST TEST, I GOT 85 out of 100!
Some people might think this isn't a big deal and that Math 1010 isn't hard, but math is one of my struggles in life. Needless to say, this has been one of the crowning moments of the week. I really want to be a brat and email him this picture, as well as a screen shot of my grades. I have a 90.1% in the class right now. I've NEVER had that good of a grade in math. But I won't, at least not yet. Anyway, when this week is over, I'll be able to blog about everything that's been going on lately. But for now, it's time to focus on my PR event, family coming to town, and finishing up my husband's 14 Days of Love.
