Finishing the Gratitude Challenge

I know, it's December 5 and I'm just getting around to finishing the whole November gratitude challenge. Give me a break, it's almost finals week!

November 29: I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to go on three humanitarian trips. It's an addicting, costly habit that has changed my life forever. (Big thanks to Mom and Dad for helping me pay for two of them.) Nothing compares to a trip to a third world country that opens your eyes, tugs at and breaks your heart, and makes you feel incredibly blessed with the things that you do have. It's a lot of hard work, but so rewarding in the end. Trevor and I are trying to work out all the details so that we can go on a humanitarian trip (probably to Guatemala) together in June. I've made close friends on each trip who started out as complete strangers, some of whom I'm still friends with today. But when you work together with a group of people and all of your hearts are breaking and you want to bring the little orphans home with you, it brings you together. I highly recommend anyone go on a humanitarian trip; save your money and just go. You won't regret it.

November 30: This gratitude challenge has truly made me be more aware of things that I'm grateful for, and I hope to carry that attitude with me throughout the year, not just for one month. I'm grateful to live the life that I live. I have an amazing, loving husband, a supportive family, in-laws who I love and adore, friends who keep me laughing, an education under my belt, a roof over my head, fresh water to drink (although often times I substitute it for Mountain Dew), a job, a car that runs, food to eat, money to spend, memories to cherish, pictures to look at, and a reason to live each day.
