Highlights of Summer '14

Obviously, since it's uh... OCTOBER... I thought I would do just a recap of some of the best parts of this past summer. It was mine and Trev's third summer together, and the adventures keep on getting better and better. I love being married to my best friend. Totes cliche I know, but it's 101% true.

- We spent a whole week in May {right after school got out} in Monterey, California with Trevor’s sister. Our brother-in-law Chase is in the Airforce in linguistics, and him and Aubrey were stationed in Monterey until he finished training. While he was gone to Texas and Washington for more training, Trev and I decided to keep Aubs company and enjoy the beauty of Monterey before they moved to their new station in Omaha, Nebraska. Monterey is right on the ocean and is simply beautiful. We explored the local sites, went to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, ate dinner at Bubba Gump's, had a day at the beach, ate lots of hot dogs, spent time playing with Roger the Dog, took way too many pictures, and spent a day in San Franscisco. We were awfully sad to leave her when the week came to an end {we came home to a dead battery in my car... being stranded in Vegas is not fun} but we're excited to go and visit her and Chase {and Roger, of course} at their new home in Omaha.

- We ate wayyyy too many snowcones at the Tiki Shack and Holukilia Shaved Ice. We attended three different Tuacahn shows this summer: The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Hooray for being season ticket holders! Trevor's cousin Colton and his girlfriend spent a couple of days with us. We had plenty of date nights and anniversary celebrations. I had a couple of girls' nights with my friends. We had a cousin sleepover with the York kids out on the trampoline. Lots and lots of random adventures. (:

- We bought a new car! Trevor and I had been looking at buying a car for a couple of months, and I was pretty specific in what I wanted: it had to be stick shift, it had to be orange, and it had to be four-door. Now, the four-door part wasn't too hard to find, but an orange stick shift car? HA. I was really liking the Chevy Sonic's, and Chevy is awesome in the fact that they're one of the few car companies that make orange cars. Memorial Day weekend I was looking on some of the car websites and I found it! It was a 2012 Chevy Sonic hatchback turbo, inferno-orange, stick shift and I wanted to go test-drive it soooo bad. That Wednesday, Trev didn't have work so we drove down to St. George to Stephen Wade Honda-Mazda to see the car. It was perfect and I fell in love with it. Three hours later, we walked out of the dealership, papers signed. I had severe buyer's remorse for three or four days and drove Trevor crazy, but when we picked the car up that Monday, all of the buyer's remorse was gone. Lari {my car} has been a great addition to our family - she now has tinted windows, gets awesome gas mileage, has some serious turbo power, and is my pride and joy. I cried when I sold my little white "Natty M" car, but I love Lari. Thanks to my awesome husband for providing the money for her. XOXOXO.

- We went to Page, Arizona for a weekend for Trev's cousin's wedding. I've never been to Page, but it was so hard to be right next to Lake Powell and not have a houseboat or jetskis to go play on. The wedding was cute and simple, and we had a good time with the Green side of the family. I always feel more comfortable around the Green's than Trevor's other side of the family.

- Our 'niece' Ellie was born on June 19th. Ellie is our good friend Tyler and Shannon's daughter. Tyler and Trevor are best friends {practically brothers} and Shannon and I are pretty good friends too, thus the reason why Ellie is our niece. We have had so much fun watching her grow, even in these short summer months.

- My little brother Tedo spent the 4th of July with us. We went to Quail Creek for a day, spent the 4th surrounded by family, and spent some quality time fishing. It was a great reminder about how fun holidays are going to be once we have kids.

- We went to San Diego for a couple of days to celebrate my 22nd birthday and be around family. Aubrey and Chase were there as well as Danny's daughter Danae who we got to know. My favorite thing about the trip was my birthday, of course. We went to Imperial Beach to a sandcastle building competition and later that night we attended a San Diego Padres baseball game. We're not baseball fans, but it was surprisingly more fun than I thought it was going to be. It was the first trip to San Diego that we didn't really have a plan - we just went to have fun and relax. We spent wayyy too much time in the pool.

- We took several trips up north to see my family for weddings and new puppies. The latest addition to the Morgan family is Tedo's puppy, a German Shepard named Sasha. We love her.

- Michelle and Danny spent a whole week with us in Utah when Trevor's cousin got married. You better believe we went to Texas Roadhouse at least once. {Okay, it was for Cameron's birthday, but we all know how much my mother-in-law LOVES Texas Roadhouse.}

Summer 2014 was good to us.
